BriteMinds can help you perform well on your exam and score a passing grade. Read on to find out more.

What are Advanced Placement Courses?

Advanced Placement (AP) are college-level courses students can take while in high school. They are very rich in content and move at a slightly higher course load and pace. These classes culminate in an exam at the end of the school year that, if passed, can earn the student college credit. With offerings in Calculus, English Literature, Art History, and multiple languages, there is at least something for everyone.

Benefits of Taking AP Courses

The biggest benefit offered by AP courses is that they can give students college credit. The exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, with 3 being the passing number. Some colleges, however, will only award academic credit for scores of 4 and 5. Earning college credit while in high school can save you money and time down the road.

In addition, AP courses are typically weighted differently when calculating your GPA, giving you a much-needed boost. Challenging yourself by taking these advanced classes is also a good way to distinguish yourself from other college applicants when the time comes.

The biggest benefit, however, is the experience itself. Here at BriteMinds we are always reminding parents and students that learning is and should be fun! Taking an AP class can be a great experience to cover a specific subject in-depth.

Types of AP Courses

Like we said, AP courses are offered across most disciples. Below are some of their offerings:
